Basil Albert MacLeod
MacLeod, Basil Albert, 87 of Belmont Ave.,
Stellarton passed away Sunday, March 23rd, 2008, at the Aberdeen
Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in Trenton he was a son of the late
John and Nettie (MacLean) MacLeod.
Basil was a resident of Stellarton since 1946. He owned and operated MacLeod�s Bakery
for 40 years then went on to work at North Shore Drug Dependency
from where he retired. He was a veteran of World War II having
served with the Royal Canadian Navy. He was a member of the
Admiral Murray Naval Association and Branch #28 Royal Canadian
Legion, Stellarton. Basil was a former president of the C. N. I.
B. and a member of the H. O. W. Group, New Glasgow. Basil was a
member of Keith Masonic Lodge #23, Stellarton, where he was also
past Grand Master, the Philae Shriners the Mount Lebanon Chapter
and the Malta Preceptory. He was a member of Nova Scotia
Progressive Conservative Association and a member of First
Presbyterian Church, Stellarton. He was an avid card player.
Basil was the last surviving member of his
immediate family. He is survived by his sons, Jack MacLeod,
Sturgeon, P.E.I., Harvey �Brother� (Vicki) MacLeod, Stellarton,
Basil �Van� (Carolyn) MacLeod, Stellarton; daughter, Linda
MacLeod, Westville Rd., 11 grandchildren and 11
great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife, the former
Genevieve Jamieson; sister, Rhoda Veniot and brother, Fred
MacLeod. The family will receive visitors from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9
p.m. on Tuesday in the H. C. MacQuarrie Funeral Home, Stellarton.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday from First
Presbyterian Church, Stellarton, with Rev. Charles McPherson
officiating. Burial will be in the Peter�s Road Cemetery, P.E.I.
at 2 p.m. on Thursday. Donations in memory of Basil may be made
to the C. N. I. B. or to the Heart And Stroke Foundation. |
