John Roland Lloy
John Roland Lloy, of Stellarton and formerly of Sydney,
passed away peacefully at the QE II hospital on Monday, June 30,
with his family at his side.
Born in Halifax on February 4, 1921, John volunteered for
service in the Canadian Navy during WWII and served overseas for
3 years. When he returned home, John followed in the tradition
of his father and had a long and successful career with the CNR
extending over 45 years.
Johns devotion to his family, particularly to his late wife
Elizabeth during her illness, was an indication of his kind and
caring nature. He was a true gentleman, for whom duty, family,
church and an appreciation of simple blessings were the
cornerstones of his well-lived life. A loyal member of East Gate
Lodge of Westmount, Cape Breton and then Keith Lodge of
Stellarton, John received his 50 year jewel in the Masonic
Order.
John is survived by his daughter, Sharon (Elmer) MacKay of
Lorne, and his son, Doug of Stellarton. Besides his parents,
Roland and Catherine (Sadie) Lloy of Halifax, John was
predeceased in 2000 by his beloved wife of 54 years, Elizabeth (Baylee)
Lloy of Pictou County. He was also predeceased by his sister,
Marg Armstrong of Ottawa.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation
to Beth MacDonald and Nancy Terris whose exceptional kindness
and dedication as caregivers will always be remembered.
There will be no visitation by request. Keith Masonic Lodge
No. 23 will meet at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the R.H. Porter
Funeral Home New Glasgow to conduct their service.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 3,
at Christ Anglican Church, Stellarton with Archdeacon Peter
Armstrong officiating. Burial in Christ Anglican Church
Cemetery. Reception to follow. Family flowers only please.
