Cheek, Blaine G., the last surviving member of his immediate
family, in his 79th year, formerly of Stellarton, passed away on
April 2, 2008, in Cranston, Rhode Island, after a brief illness.
Born in Stellarton, he was the son of the late John R. Cheek and
Nora Haggart Cheek. Blaine was well known and
respected in the sewing machine industry, he spent over fifty
years in the business having owned and operated Blaine Sewing
Machine Centres in Rhode Island. Blaine loved Nova Scotia
especially his hometown of Stellarton. Each spring and fall he
would return to Nova Scotia, to enjoy time fishing and hunting,
with friends at his camp in Country Harbour, Nova Scotia.
Blaine was a member of the Keith Masonic Lodge #23, Stellarton,
Scottish Rite and the Palestine Temple Shrine Rhode Island.
He is survived by his wife, Norma Anderson Cheek, stepdaughter
Natalie Delaney, Cranston, Rhode Island and step grandchildren,
Kim and Scott, Rhode Island.
He is survived by
nephews John, Chatham, Ontario; Blaine, Edmonton, Alberta;
Jamie, New Glasgow; Terry, Hopewell; nieces Beverly, Cole
Harbour; Lynn, Halifax; and Michelle, Georgetown, Ontario. He is
also survived by sisters-in-law Thelma Cheek, Hopewell and
Beulah Cheek, Stellarton.
He was predeceased by
brothers Bob, Bill and Ronnie Cheek.
His remains
will rest in the H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Home, Stellarton with
visiting hours from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral service will be
held from the funeral home on Wednesday at 2 p.m. Rev. Charles
McPherson officiating. Burial will be in the Heatherdale
Memorial Gardens. Donations in Blaine�s memory may be made to a
charity of one�s choice.
Keith Masonic Lodge will
meet at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday to conduct their service. |
