Worshipful Master 1963-64 and received his 50-Year Jewel in
September 2004
Brother
MacKinnon was born on September 28th, 1931 and was
raised to the Supreme Lodge Above on August 8th 2008
at the age of 80 years.
Daniel Hugh MacKinnon
Daniel Hugh (Danny) MacKinnon, age 80, of Glen
Haven Manor, and formerly of Essex Drive, New Glasgow, passed
away on Friday, August 8th, 2008, in the Manor.
Born of February 28th, 1928, he graduated from the former New
Glasgow High School, then accepted a position in the New Glasgow
Town Office for one year, while delivering the Evening News
after work of which he did all through school for 12 years with
100 customers. In 1949 he attended Mount Allison
Business Academy for one year, then accepted a job in the field
office of Tidewater Construction Ltd. where he remained for four
years. In 1954 he married his high school sweetheart Jean
Margeson, whom he is survived by, and together they traveled to
Peterborough, ON where he accepted a position with Zeller's and
also worked in Guelph, Hamilton and Kitchener stores.
In October of 1957 he decided to return to his beloved Nova
Scotia and was invited to join Dominion Stores in Halifax,
Kentville and New Glasgow. After 17 years, he returned home and
started Cliff's Taxi where he spent 22 years until he retired in
1994. He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian
Church which he served as a Sunday School Teacher, Chairman of
the Board of Managers and an Elder for 40 years.
He was a good friend to all who knew him as a caring man. He had
tree passions; his house, his Church and his Lodge. He belonged
to Albion Lodge No. 5 for 54 years of which he is a Past Master.
He was also a member of the New Glasgow and Kentville Curling
Clubs and the Rotary Club. He enjoyed reading, dancing and
traveling. His remains are buried in the
Abercrombie Cemetery.
