My Brothers,

We have lost a good man and a dedicated Mason, Roger Eisner passed away Saturday May 31st about 4:10 pm.

There will be an Eastern Star Service Monday, June 2nd at 7pm immediately followed by a Masonic Service at the Middleton Funeral Home on Main Street.

 The Church Service will be Tuesday, June 3rd at 2pm at the Middleton Baptist Church.

 We pray that the Great Architect will always hold him near.

Additional Information:

Brothers: There will be 2 Services at the Middleton Funeral Home starting at 7 PM on Monday;  June 2. The first will be the OES Service followed by the Masonic Service and everyone is asked to be present for both services. This will be a large gathering so to avoid confusion by having people move, it has been suggested to have everyone be present for both. 

The Bros.of Ionic Lodge; we will assemble at 6:30 PM outside the Funeral Home

Roger Ellis Eisner
Grand Master 2006-7

Roger Ellis Eisner, born in Berwick, Kings Co., N.S., 3rd October 1935. In the early years he lived in Middleton, Windsor, and Pictou. The family moved to Bridgewater, N.S. in the fall of 1949 where he attended high school.

He began working in broadcasting at CKBW in Bridgewater while still attending high school. From there he was employed with CKEN, Kentville, CKFH radio (Foster Hewitt, the voice of hockey) in Toronto, CHML and CHCH Television in Hamilton, Ontario and the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. which brought him back to Nova Scotia and CBHT Television in Halifax in 1954.

In 1956 he married Donna Levy, Bridgewater and they have a family of three; two sons (one deceased) and a daughter, 13 grand children and 7 great grand children.

While living in Halifax he was a business partner in a Real Estate firm and owner of Bayers Stationery and Maritime Printing and Publishing. During this period he also served as Vice Commodore of the Armdale Yacht Club in Halifax.

In March of 1962 he became a member of Keith Lodge No. 17, Halifax and was raised to the sublime degree of Master Mason in May of that year.

In June 1963 he was made Companion, Royal Arch Masons, Royal Union Chapter No.1, Halifax; On the 26th of October 1963 he was made a member of Antiquity Preceptory, No. 5 in Halifax.

He is also a member of Philae Temple A.A.O.N.M.S. (1963) and was an active member of the Arab Patrol Band for a number of years.

Both Lady Donna and Bro. Roger are members of Annaval Chapter #31, Order of the Eastern Star, Middleton.

In 1973 the family moved to Middleton where he began Middleton Paper and Plastics with his youngest son Phillip. Later he owned and operated Rogers Custom Framing and Gallery until he retired in 1997.

He affiliated with Ionic Lodge No. 73 in Middleton in April 1975. He was installed as Master of Ionic Lodge in 1980. (His father, Ellis Eisner was raised in Ionic 73)

He was an active member of the Annapolis Valley Affiliated Boards of Trade and a founding member of the Western Valley Development Authority. Bro. Roger has served on the Middleton Town Planning and advisory committee since 1983.

In 1996 he was recognized by the Province of Nova Scotia for "Exceptional Volunteer Service" in the Town of Middleton.

In 1993 and again in the year 2000 he served as District Grand Director of Ceremonies, Annapolis-Digby District. In 2001 he was elected to serve as District Deputy Grand Master.

Prior to being installed as Grand Master of Masons in Nova Scotia he served as Grand Junior Warden, Grand Senior Warden and Deputy Grand Master.

Roger wass also the Grand Representative in Nova Scotia for the Grand Lodge of Canada in the Province of Ontario.

Feb. 10th 2007, Bro. Roger was made a life member of Keith Lodge No. 17, the first brother ever to receive such an honour in the history of Keith Lodge. On April, 14th 2007 he was also presented with a life membership to Ionic Lodge No. 73.
